Physical and chemical properties

1. Appearance: White or off white powder.

2. Particle size: 100 mesh pass rate greater than 98.5%; The pass rate of 80 mesh is greater than 100%.

3. Carbonization temperature: 280-300 ℃.

4. Apparent density: 0.25-0.70g/cm3 (usually around 0.5g/cm3), specific gravity 1.26-1.31.

5. Color change temperature: 190-200 ℃.

6. Surface tension: A 2% aqueous solution is 42-56dyn/cm.

7. It is soluble in water and some organic solvents, such as appropriate proportions of ethanol/water, dichloroethane, etc. The aqueous solution has surface activity. High transparency, stable performance, different specifications of products gel temperature is different. The solubility changes with viscosity, and the lower the viscosity, the greater the solubility. There are certain differences in the performance of different specifications of HPMC, and the solubility of HPMC in water is not affected by pH value.

8. With the decrease of methoxy group content, the content of hydroxypropyl group increased, the gel point increased, the water solubility increased, and the surface activity of HPMC was stable.

9. HPMC also has thickening ability, low salt rejection and ash content, pH stability, water retention, excellent film-forming properties, as well as extensive enzyme resistance, dispersibility, and adhesion.
